Some of my earlier works when first fascinated by cameras. Photography inspired 14-year-old me to experiment with more equipment and expand onto video filming also. These photographs inspired Barbra Kruger allowed me to use bright, bold red and white text alongside black and white photography. Her work has inspired me to experiment with colour, the meaning of text and how to use photographs to get a message across to its viewers.

They/Them

Developing my skills in analogue photography, I’ve learned the use of an SLR camera. The ability to develop film and photographs in the dark room. I chose to base this photoshoot on the challenging social construct on gender identity and non-binary pronouns. A subject matter which I had little information on but had realised it’s something becoming a major topic in societies today. This photoshoot allowed me to research and understand the fluidity of gender.

Discomfort

Some of my latest work, inspired by Tyler Shields. With this photoshoot, I wanted to do something different than presenting a “pretty” photograph. I wanted to make viewers want to look away but can’t. I selectively chose which props to use in the photoshoot and a colour theme is always flows well together. This project focuses majorly on studio photography and the correct lighting needed for each photograph. Then applied my photo-shop skills developed over the many years for a sharp and bright result.
